S.M.A.R.T. Academy

The S.M.A.R.T. Academy engages participants for a period of approximately one year. During the year, Academy members come together on a number of occasions for training. Between training sessions, virtual symposia and remote one-on-one coaching sessions are used to maintain learning momentum. At the end of the Academy, members are prepared to serve as Trainers and Coaches of the S.M.A.R.T. Goal Process, fully prepared to grow the capacity for change in their districts and schools.  

The vision for the S.M.A.R.T. Academy:

Build sustainable internal district capacity for continuous school improvement.

Format:

  • Train the trainer program over the course of one year
  • 8 days of training
  • 5 hour-long symposia
  • 4 individual 45 minute coaching sessions

Objectives:

  • Align your achievement data and the S.M.A.R.T. Goal Process
  • Guide student achievement through an evidence-based, data-driven process
  • Increase leadership proficiencies
  • Build leadership capacity to enhance teaching and learning
  • Provide networking opportunities to support participants

Outcomes:

  • Each participant will be certified to train and coach the S.M.A.R.T. Goal Process in her/his district.
  • Each participant will earn a license to use all applicable QLD materials and templates, as well as access to tools and resources including training modules as they are updated.
  • Each participant will receive Participant Manuals, Instructor Guides, PowerPoint presentations, 2 Style Inventories and a set of our four books:
