Curriculum Alignment and Improvement

A "guaranteed, viable curriculum" is the #1 factor having the most impact on student achievement (Marzano, 2002). Having a shared understanding of the written, taught, tested curriculum is key to building this foundation. Once curriculum is aligned and articulated in every classroom, students can then take ownership of their learning, knowing where they've been, where they are and where they're going. From there, teachers and students together can focus on standards where there is the greatest need for improvement.
